Troy-Bilt, which as become one of the leading names in lawn care, got their start by creating the first American-made rear-tine rototiller. The rototiller, also known as a rotary tiller, is a cultivator that breaks up the soil using blades. With the Troy-Bilt model, the blades were in the back and the cultivator was motorized for easier use.
While these devices had been widely used since their invention in 1912 in Australia, the Troy-Bilt was one of the first to be made in the United States. And that was all the way back in 1937.
The story of that first step in the right direction for Troy-Bilt came from C. W. Kelsey who had been working on developing a rotary tiller that would work well on the rocky soil found in the United States.
The German Earth Grinder he had been using simply wasn’t up to the job. After working on his designs fro more than 20 years, the first of these machines was built in Troy, New York. It was this 400 pound machine that would be the backbone of the company for many of its early years.
Troy-Bilt is the name behind a wide range of outdoor equipment but they also sell five varieties of lawn mowers. Each variety is intended to meet the specific needs of home owners and landscapers: Garden Tractors, Zero Turn Lawn Mowers, Lawn Tractors, Push Mowers, and Zero Turn Lawn Mowers.
The Riding Mowers
The Garden and Lawn tractors, as well as the Zero Turn Lawn Mowers, are ideal for large yards which would require a long mowing time if done in any other way.
The nice thing about a zero turn lawn mower is that it can create the flawless landscaped lawn design you want and that many homeowners pay a lot of money to achieve by hiring professionals to do the job.
